How do I get the most accurate speed test results?

Please note that our broadband speed test results are an indication of your connection speed only and results may be distorted if you are accessing broadband via a home wireless network, wireless hotspot or mobile broadband dongle. This broadband speed test gives the most accurate results on fixed line broadband connections which do not have to rely on signal strength.

How does this speed test work?

When you start the speed test above, the tool tests your broadband speed by downloading and uploading "packets" of data via "pings". The speed at which these things happen allows us to assess your broadband speed in seconds.

Do many people use this broadband speed test?

Absolutely. In March 2008, we tested over 90,000 broadband connections for our users. Some were pleased and some were disappointed.
