Company history
T Mobile, previously known as One 2 One, is the UK arm of European telecommunications company T Mobile International which is based in Bonn, Germany. T Mobile International was set up in 1990 by the German group Deutsche Telekom and this is where it gets its name, an abbreviated form of 'Telekom Mobile'.
17 years later T Mobile International is thriving in the mobile phone industry with a stronghold over the European market, particularly in countries such as The Netherlands, Austria and Germany. With such a wealth of experience and loyal customer base it is a natural line of development from mobile network operation to the provision of mobile broadband.
With over 1.9 million subscribers in the UK alone this makes T Mobile the second largest mobile network after O2. But it’s not all work and no play and T Mobile is keen to demonstrate its support of European football and cycling teams, they are the proud kit sponsors of teams including Bayern Munich and West Bromwich Albion.

Don't use T-Mobile if you don't want to pay by direct debit.
The cheapest mobile broadband T-Mobile offer is advertised as being £15. That is to say that it's £15 if you pay by direct debit but if you want to use a safe way to pay i.e. with a credit card they will charge you a 20% surcharge, making it £18 a month.
They will insist on doing a credit check on you when you sign up - be warned - this is harmful to your credit-rating. When you receive your modem you will also see on the dispatch slip that you have been charged £6.99 for a sim card and £5.95 for delivery, so that's £30.94 for the first month on your credit card.
You may also discover that, after the first month, T-Mobile will refuse to take any more money from your credit card for subsequent months and demand that you pay by direct debit.
Two points arise from this: 1. There is no reason to do a credit check if they refuse to take money from your credit card and demand you pay by direct debit. 2. Your distance selling cooling-off period has long since expired and you are now required to complete a 2 year contract paying by direct debit.

The service works easily, customer service is good, it is slow in my area as the 3G signal's too weak so it runs on gprs - the same speed as dial up. It is suposed to automatically speed up in better signal areas and WiFi hot spots I have not noticed this yet. Also it doesn't work ouside the UK - a real disappointment since I wanted to use it while on holiday in France.

Mobile broadband is an exellent alternative to having a landline fitted.

The USB modem is a seriously nice piece of kit! UK call centers & tech support are there to help if you have any trouble, reinforcing my impression that keeping tech support in the UK is better than shipping them abroad.

It's all well and good offering new customers this deal, but existing T-Mobile customers such as myself who are using their phone as a modem and paying the web n' walk tariff aren't eligible for this new offer.

I'm currently a student and unable to get a BT line, but wanted to access the internet without having to go into the university all the time, so this T-Mobile USB modem is a godsend! i can now access the internet from the privacy of my own room, plus use it on the train when travelling home at the weekends. love it!

I was impressed by the price plans available from T Mobile. I went for a 2 year contract and ended up saving almost a third per month compared to a 12 month contract. Excellent. And now I can check Facebook in my lunch hour - it's the new way to multi-task!

Working out of hours is so much easier now. I can contact the office on my way to work. I'm already a T-Mobile phone customer and being able to use my mobile as a modem is really very convenient
