TalkTalk urging Tiscali customers to upgrade rental services
Posted 24th December 2009 at 10:32am by Kimberley Howson
Tiscali's broadband users are being urged to upgrade to TalkTalk's phone line rental service.
ISPreview.co.uk reports that any broadband-only subscribers who do not switch to services provided by Tiscali's new owner will see £5 added onto their bill.
For customers currently paying £14.99 per month, this would see the cost of their broadband package rise to £19.99.
TalkTalk, the telecommunications arm of Carphone Warehouse, says migration from Tiscali services will commence on January 7th 2010.
Justifying the action, the firm says its phone line offers better value for money and a higher service quality than Tiscali customers currently receive.
Earlier this month, TalkTalk announced plans to raise its standard UK network connection speeds from January.
The firm announced that 24Mb downloads will be available in the new year as it continues to invest million in its next-generation broadband infrastructure.

No urging has as yet come my way. Nor do I see any TalkTalk plans that better the one I am currently on!!!!

Tiscali's new owner will see £5 added onto their bill.. (that's a smack in the mouth to start with).
Does that mean upgrading to Talk Talk with the same level of Tiscali's Broadband-Phone Package will be cheaper?
I don't think so, I will wait and see... -

Phoned tiscali on 6th January 2010 to arrange this told it was ok but have not yet received my new contract. Contacted them several times just to be ignored. My account is being billed and I don't understand the charges as they are far more than what I signed up for. -

Its just a con to get us all on talk plans as well as broadband. They should not be able to penalise us for only choosing BB and not pstn. It's a good job you can get your mac code from tiscali via text message and only takes 10-60mins. That means it's quite easy to get away :D

I'm on a 'Tiscali Max Unlimited plus Free Weekend Talk II' plan which expires in April\May. I only pay £5 per month. It used to be £12.99, but when I called them to cancel, they gave me a better deal.
Last week, I got a letter from Talk Talk saying they are upgrading me to £14.99 per month in Feb.
Is that legal? Can they do that? as I signed a 12 month contract. -

If u check the mac help section on this website, you'll find Tiscali's number. Just ring them up and ask for it via text

I had been with Tiscali for years, but objected to TalkTalk's new terms. For that reason, I reguested a MAC code and migrated to 02 on December 17th.

However, TalkTalk failed to cease billing and now falsely claims I was tied into an 18-month contract and must pay to break it.
This company is a nightmare. Call centre staff are rude and obstructive. My advice is to migrate away from TalkTalk ASAP - and log everything in writing if possible. -

Can anybody tell me why old TalkTalk customers are only paying £19.99 for free 01 and 02 numbers anytime calls, plus 30 international calls?

With Tiscali, I paid £17.99 for 01 and 02 numbers anytime, plus 10 international calls and unlimited downloads.
TalkTalk want from me £6-49 for the extra 20 international calls free, which I don't want and 0845 and 0780 numbers that I also dont want. Plus I'm not happy about the fact they have a capped download.
