UK broadband services 'fairly priced'

Research from Which? has suggested UK broadband is good value

Broadband services available in the UK may not be as expensive as some people believe, new research has suggested.

Consumer magazine Which? has released a new study which compares the price of major utilities – including broadband – in a range of countries.

It found that the average Briton spends just under £430 a year on internet services, which turns out to be rather reasonable when viewed next to other parts of Europe, reports ISPreview.co.uk.

In contrast, the French pay £441, while Italians fork out £412 on an annual basis. However, Spain was found to be one place not to buy broadband services, as they cost an average of £828 over 12 months.

The release of the study has come after a European Commission report found that demand for broadband services in the continent remains high.

It revealed that 24 per cent of the European population had access to broadband in July 2009, which is a rise of almost three per cent on 12 months earlier.
