BT is currently offering customers three months free broadband, as part of a limited period, online-only incentive in the run up to Christmas.

Under the terms of the deal, customers who sign up for any triple play broadband package – that is those that combine the BT Vision on-demand TV service with a 20Mb home broadband connection and cheap/free calls – will pay nothing for their broadband for the initial three months of their contract. The savings also apply on BT products that feature just a broadband service and cheap calls.

To take advantage of the deals, as well as view and compare BT broadband package options, consumers can visit Top 10 Broadband’s dedicated provider page. The incentive is exclusively available to new customers who sign up online.

Running concurrently with the promotion, however, is a separate money-saving offer for existing BT customers. Also available now, this allows existing BT home telephony customers to add broadband and BT Vision and get a free Vision+ box. This is ordinarily priced £45.

BT Vision’s Christmas program for 2009 features seasonal movies and family favourites as well as movie premieres. Features set to air in weeks to come include Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey, the much-lauded animation Coraline and the Da Vinci Code sequel Angles and Demons.

Jessica McArdle, marketing manager at Top 10 Broadband, said: “BT’s offering of three-months free broadband with all bundle packages should spread enough festive cheer to put it on the right side of Father Christmas’s impending annual naughty/nice checklist.”

The launch of the broadband provider’s latest incentive comes after BT Vision Chief Executive Marc Watson recently outlined plans to boost take-up of the TV offering over the next 12 months. Speaking in an interview with the Financial Times, Mr Watson claimed that take-up has thus far been stymied by problems with communicating the advantages of the service to customers.

I notice with any 3 month promotion they add a 15 pound charge that really softens the deal by adding 5pounds/month for the length of the promotion. They are dangling a half-eaten carrot.
