Virgin Media hit by outages
Posted 30th September 2009 at 4:18pm by Kimberley Howson
The UK's leading fibre-optic broadband provider has suffered a series of technical hitches, it has been revealed.
Some of Virgin Media's customers have reportedly been hit by outages and loss of connection today (September 30th), while the company's website has also been experiencing loading problems.
In addition, the company's webmail platform has also been struggling with some technical issues.
Discussing the problems, a Virgin Media spokesperson said: "Some of our customers are currently experiencing intermittent service problems caused by power fluctuations at one of our facilities.
"Our engineers are working hard to bring services back on line as quickly as possible."
Virgin Media recently confirmed that it is to be listed on the London Stock Exchange from tomorrow (October 1st).
The company will be on the list, under the symbol of VMED, from 08:00 BST.

Intermittent broadband has been an issue for many months - and still is! I am lucky to have a connection a total of one week out of every month.

One reply to the issue was "We have too many customers". Shame on you, VM, for such a poor service. We shouldn't have to pay for what we don't receive, and I can envision a lot of customers demanding refunds. -

I think as far as stability their broadband is crap.

I haven't had the tv long: so far so good. But i get the impression when dealing with this company that are a bit of a spiv operator and don't seem to know what the hell they are doing and they certainly don't come across as a professional outfit.

I am an I.T. guy working with clients in Lincolnshire (UK). I have a new Virgin Media domestic client and for over a week she cannot get either Broadband or email working with Virginmedia.com

This is definitely a V problem not hers and what's worse is we cannot even get through to complain as their pre-recorded message starts by saying we apologise for problems with new customers and then states that there is at least a 30 minute delay to answer calls!
This is appalling commercial behaviour and frankly taking money under false pretences! -

I've never had any problems with Virgin Media. But they need to communicate with their customers better when there's an outage.
