18th November 2008
Vodafone is encouraged by the sales of portable computers pre-installed with its SIM cards for mobile broadband use.
Mobile News reports that as many as 2,000 Lenovo notebooks (launched in the summer) and Dell Inspiron Minis, which hit the shops last month, are flying out of the shops.
Speaking to the technology news provider, Vodafone chief executive Vittorio Colao said that the sales in data cards has already surpassed the 500,000 mark.
He commented: "People are getting more accustomed to devices that have mobile broadband. We must drive this opportunity by focusing on the devices."
Vodafone’s data revenue in the UK has now grown to £1.4 billion, the operator has confirmed.
The Advertising Standards Authority recently reprimanded Vodafone after upholding complaints relating to a commercial which claimed its mobile broadband service was "light years ahead".
