O2 is step ahead, says expert

O2 has been wise to bundle together its fixed-line and mobile broadband offerings, one expert has suggested.
Matt Hatton, principal analyst at Analysys Mason, a global adviser on telecoms, IT and media, has explained that the offer significantly increased O2’s lagging mobile broadband uptake.
Mr Hatton also pointed to the consequent traffic reduction on O2’s network which comes from users accessing broadband via both services.
He said: "O2 UK’s 3G coverage and capacity are worse than its competitors, making it difficult to attract subscribers and support a large mobile broadband subscriber base.
"Combining mobile broadband with DSL brings benefits in the form of reducing traffic load on the wide-area network."
O2 has been offering customers an 8Mb home broadband service when they sign up to the provider’s mobile broadband offering.
