Ofcom figures show connections increase

Newly-released data from Ofcom shows that the number of UK broadband connections continues to rise.
The British communications sector’s regulatory body has published figures which reveal that the number of residential and small-to-medium enterprises (SME) broadband connections rose by 600,000 over the first quarter of the year.
This brought the number of connections up to a UK-wide total of 16.2 million.
It was also found that BT’s share of the market - at 26.5 per cent - had stayed the same.
A recent survey by Thinkbroadband found that the average broadband speeds in London could be nearly twice as much as those in Wales and Northern Ireland.
Some 36 per cent of homes in the EU now enjoy broadband services, according to the Broadband Performance Index (BPI).
