A device developed by BT Wholesale to improve broadband speeds will be supplied to communications providers from today (Wednesday, October 1st).
The I-Plate cuts down the electrical interference in households which is proved to slow broadband speeds.
Improvements as high as 4Mb were seen on some connections after the device was fitted to the master socket found in the majority of homes in the UK.
Although improvements cannot be guaranteed with every purchase the telecoms giant says that most customers will enjoy the benefits.
Cameron Rejali, managing director, products and services, BT Wholesale, said: "The launch of the I-Plate is another example of BT’s drive to deliver enhanced broadband services to UK homes."
Over 36,000 lines were tested during trials for the device, which can be obtained for as little as £10.
