Mobile broadband upsurge in Hull

Residents of Hull are turning to mobile broadband in their numbers after becoming disillusioned with available fixed-line offerings, according to reports.
Kingston Communications (KC) enjoys a virtual monopoly in the area and broadband users in the city are said to have had enough the narrow choice and high prices for their connections.
The Hull Daily Mail says that Carphone Warehouse in the St Stephen’s Centre, Hull, has reported a quarterly increase of in the sale of USB modems.
Store manager Michael Readings told the newspaper: "We have seen mobile broadband sales go through the roof recently, showing that our customers and the residents of Hull want not only more choice in their broadband provider, but are also looking for better value."
Regulatory body Ofcom has predicted the rise of mobile broadband in the future, estimating that 300,000 dongles per month will be flying out of the shops by December this year.
