O2 denies Mac bundle rumour
29th September 2008
O2 has denied claims that it is in talks with Apple over the possible bundling of Mac computers with broadband deals.
It had been reported that the broadband provider was discussing the possibility of including MacBooks with fixed-line and mobile broadband offerings.
It was thought that rather than the computers being thrown in for free, O2 would offer a discounted price.
However, a spokeswoman from O2 has now insisted that the rumours are "untrue" saying that "no such plans to launch an Apple MacBook laptop offer".
Speculation could have been fuelled by the fact that O2 is the UK’s official iPhone operator.
Meanwhile, a senior figure at 3, one of O2’s main rivals, has suggested that the provider is not "the right" network for Apple’s iPhone, suggesting the computer manufacturer had picked the wrong partner.
