Wales 1st on agenda for BT’s 100Mb

Ongoing talks could see Cardiff named as the first city in the UK to enjoy 100Mb fibre-optic high-speed broadband thanks to BT’s planned network.
Discussions are taking place between Cardiff City Council and BT Chairman Sir Michael Rake with a view to bringing a super-fast connection to the Welsh capital.
It is thought that the city hopes to attract businesses to relocate wit the promise of lighting-quick internet access.
David Allen of Tech Watch has applauded the foresight of Cardiff’s councillors in their efforts to persuade BT to consider the city as a first stop on the way to creating the £1.5 billion network by 2012.
He said: "This is an example of how a city can bring themselves to the table by speaking to the right people.
"In this case they have gone straight to the top and are speaking directly to BT Chairman, Sir Michael Rake."
