Yorkshire firm in charge of EU broadband project

A Yorkshire-based company has been handed the reigns to an important EU broadband project.
NYnet has been charged with the responsibility of improving internet access across Europe after having being handed a £2.8 million contract.
It will spend 26 months working on the B3 "Regions for Better BroadBand" connection initiative, which will focus its efforts in nine EU member states with the help of 17 partner organisations.
Nynet is made up of North Yorkshire County Council and Yorkshire Forward and has won praise for the broadband systems it has implemented for Yorkshire businesses.
Assistant director for business innovation at development agency Yorkshire Forward, Jim Farmery, told the Business Desk: "NYnet has made a real difference to North Yorkshire through the organisation’s innovative work to develop a high speed broadband infrastructure."
