Virgin Media in Bolt ad offer
21st August 2008
Virgin Media has decided on the best man to lead the advertising campaign for its 50Mb broadband product - 100 and 200 metres Olympic champion and world record holder Usain Bolt.
The 22-year-old has just stunned the world with his performances at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, grabbing two gold medals and setting the fastest times on record in the process.
Now the broadband provider is considering calling the package, which will claim to be twice as fast as its rivals, ‘Boltband’, reports the Guardian.
Head of Virgin Media’s marketing operation, Ashley Stockwell, told the newspaper: "Our new 50Mb service will deliver even faster lightning broadband speeds, which is why we feel that Usain will be the perfect ambassador for our campaign."
The firm recently indicated that it could be able to provide speeds of up to 200Mb to customers by the year 2012.
