Mobile broadband has 100Mb possibilities

Mobile broadband could win the race to provide speeds of up to 100Mb to a mass customer base, according to new reports.
The GSM Association (GSMA) believes that laptop owners on the move could be enjoying super-fast three-figure speeds before those using fixed live fibre-optic networks, reports Mobile News.
If the development takes place it will be thanks to new Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology and customers in the Far East are expected to enjoy the services first.
GSMA director of technology Dan Warren commented: "Tests show LTE can produce speeds up to 186 Mb. But obviously you never get the top speed and they vary with distance from the base station and interference.
"The places we expect to see it first are Japan and South Korea in early 2010 and [former Vodafone chief] Arun Sarin said he expects to see the technology in the European market by 2012."
The GSMA was founded in 1987 and is global trade association representing more than 750 GSM mobile phone operators across the world.
