T-Mobile in BlackBerry offering
11th August 2008
Mobile broadband provider T-Mobile has struck a deal with Research-in-Motion to provide UK connectivity for the BlackBerry Bold smartphone.
The new device, scheduled to go on sale later in the month, will be the first phone on T-Mobile’s network to support HSDPA.
Oliver Chivers, T-Mobile UK’s head of business marketing, explained that there is a gap in the market for a handset which provides fast mobile broadband speeds.
"As greater number of businesses recognise the benefits of mobile working, demand for mobile broadband connectivity speeds is escalating rapidly," he said.
Mr Chivers added that following the deal, the BlackBerry Bold would be "supported by a network that independent tests reveal delivers a superior mobile broadband experience".
As well as mobile broadband connectivity, the BlackBerry Bold will feature a GPS system and the capability of downloading Microsoft Office documents from email attachments.
