Orange improves 3G network

Orange has embarked on a programme of improvements to its 3G network in the northern reaches of the UK.
The broadband provider is carrying out the modifications on network infrastructure in Scotland, Northern Ireland and North-East England.
According to the firm, the outcome of the work will be a more reliable combined voice and data service, as well as a 99 per cent call set-up success rate.
Peter Marsden, Orange’s vice president of IT & Networks, commented: "A robust and reliable network is at the heart of everything we do at Orange and we are dedicated to ensuring our customers in each and every region of the UK feel the benefit of this.
"We are investing heavily to improve our network and this investment is one step closer to our goal of becoming the best UK network for coverage and reliability by 2009."
Orange provides services to almost 1.14 million people in the UK.
