Performance survey results published

The results of a recently-conducted survey which tested the performance levels of UK broadband providers have been published.
Among the interesting findings gathered in the investigation by SamKnows.co.uk - which covered customers around the UK - was that while speed is important, DNS servers, latency and core bandwidth also have a significant influence on the level of performance enjoyed by British broadband users.
Virgin Media’s cable service was also seen to perform well, but BT broadband was found to deliver the closest to its "implied line speed" - the term the survey uses to mean the advertised potential speeds applied to broadband deals.
Speaking to Tech Radar the report’s author, Sam Crawford, said that bandwidth upgrading must be implemented in order to accommodate the inevitable increasing of speeds in years to come.
He commented: "I think we’re going to see significant speed/congestion issues next time, unless upgrades of core network bandwidth is carried out to account for increasingly faster access speeds."
