Ditch BT landline, says IFA
4th August 2008
Broadband customers should ditch their BT landlines in order to make a handsome saving, one independent financial advisor has recommended.
Szu Ping Chan of the Motley Fool has stressed that there is options for those wishing to save money while keeping their landline, rather than switching to mobile broadband.
Ms Chan has highlighted the fact that possession of a landline can improve credit ratings, and can be accessed through a number of other broadband operators, aside from BT.
She commented: "By ditching BT and switching to a broadband provider which offers its own landline service, you could save a lot of money by removing BT from the equation.
"The whole process is generally quite smooth, and in most cases you can keep your existing phone number."
Tiscali, Virgin Media and Carfone Warehouse were highlighted as broadband providers offering a landline service.
BT is the UK’s biggest broadband provider, with over 4.5 million subscribers.
