Wireless broadband boom predicted

The wireless broadband market is set to see significant growth over coming years, according to a new report.
Industry analyst Analysys Mason has predicted that by 2015, 2.1 billion wireless broadband customers will generate service revenues of $784 billion (£395 billion).
The report also foresees WiMax enduring a tough time, with the market being dominated by HSPA and LTE technologies.
According to the publication: "LTE will take off relatively slowly, but its customer base will reach 440 million by 2015, with associated revenue of $194 billion (£97 billion)."
Meanwhile, by the end of 2008, HSPA is expected to support 88 per cent of all wireless broadband consumers and is still expected to dominate in seven years time.
Dr Mark Heath, co-author of the report, commented: "Despite the increasing availability of LTE and Wimax, HSPA and HSPA+ will still support 54 per cent of wireless broadband users by the end of 2015."
