Telecommuting driven by broadband

A growing number of firms are now recognising the benefits of allowing staff to telecommute using broadband, one publication says.
The trend of allowing employees to work from home has swept the business world, with companies now alert to the costs which can be saved by operating with a smaller office force.
According to the Economist, reliable home broadband connections have facilitated this development, allowing overheads to be reduced in more ways than one.
"Firms also find that telecommuting can reduce their communications costs," says the publication.
Continuing: "That’s because a broadband connection to the home - and telecommuting is impossible without one - can always be configured as a second (essentially free) voice line as well as a high-speed data connection."
