From tomorrow, telecoms provider Carphone Warehouse will extend its free laptop deal to broadband customers.

The company will offer one of six laptop models to customers purchasing a mobile or fixed broadband package from one of seven providers, including 3, Orange, T-Mobile and its own TalkTalk brand.

Commenting ahead of the launch, business and multi-channel director Andy Brem said: "[This] is very significant. This is only the start. We are doing with laptops and broadband what we did with mobile phones."

Initially available in 100 stores throughout the UK, the free laptop offer will eventually be extended to all 2,400 of the company's shops across Europe, the Independent reports.

Last month, US electronics firm Best Buy approached Carphone Warehouse with a £1.1 billion bid for half of its retail arm.

Following the deal, the Office of Fair Trading is undertaking an examination of the effect that it will have on competition.

It is expected that the deal will see retail park-sized Best Buy stores opening around the country and throughout Europe by 2009.
