BT makes NI reassurances

BT has reassured residents of Northern Ireland that the country has 100 per cent broadband coverage.
The telecoms firm made the announcement after speculation that some people in the region could not receive broadband, reports the Fermangh Herald.
BT Wholesale’s Frank McManus told the newspaper that confusion about the way customers receive broadband in Northern Ireland may have led to the misguided view that some people have no coverage.
Mr McManus confirmed: "There are a number of ways to receive broadband. Through your mobile, through your house telephone line and also via satellite."
Detailing Northern Ireland’s broadband distribution, he continued "We provide broadband to 335,000 users through their telephone lines, while only 800 are provided for through the satellite option."
In a demonstration of broadband’s growth in Northern Ireland, a recent survey showed that more customers in the region used internet banking than telephone banking.
