Mobile broadband ‘revolutionary’

Mobile broadband modems are causing a "major revolution" in the way that people access the web on the go, according to the Daily Mail.
The paper explains that dongles are proving popular among UK users, with one-fifth of all new customers joining telecoms firm 3 doing so for its mobile broadband products.
It notes that with possible headline speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, it seems as though a home broadband service is now available for users while they are on the go.
"We can finally achieve fixed-line rates without the hassle of activation charges and long-term contracts - ideal for those who rent, such as students or foreign workers," the article explains.
However, Rob Barnes, head of broadband and mobiles at moneysupermarket.com, does tell the paper that for heavy users, a fixed-line service with no monthly usage caps may be better suited to requirements.
The article follows a recent review by TechRadar which suggested that for some people, mobile broadband may prove a cheaper option than fixed-line products.
