Vodafone speed ads rile 3

Mobile broadband provider 3 has aired its misgivings about the way in which rival Vodafone advertises its products.
Commenting recently, the company explained its reasons for referring Vodafone to the Advertising Standards Agency and the GSM Association over its advertising of headline speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps.
Although this service is only available in 18 London postcodes and some airports, it has been a prominent selling point for the company. However, ZDnet reports that Vodafone has already agreed to stop advertising its national offering with these speeds.
Three also explained that a number of other factors can affect likely download speeds, which included mobile non-data network traffic, software, signal quality and number of mobile broadband users in a certain area.
As a result of these and other factors, 3 is urging customers not to look simply at headlines but density of coverage when choosing their mobile broadband provider.
Vodafone has this week announced that it plans to extend its 7.2 Mbps mobile broadband coverage over the coming summer.
