UK broadband provider Virgin Media has announced that some young Britons are earning as much as £60,000 online each year.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Britain's teenagers are helping to lead the way to economic prosperity in a period of economic turmoil by capitalising on web-based business opportunities.

The Virgin Media poll found that almost 21,000 people aged between 15 and 16 earned in excess of £60,000 - more than three times the national average.

In support of these enterprising individuals, Virgin Media is offering one lucky youngster the chance to meet top business tycoon Tim Campbell for advice and assistance as part of its Virgin Media Sparks campaign.

"It's great to see young people all over the UK honing their entrepreneurial skills in their free time and planning the businesses of the future," said James Kydd, managing director of brand and marketing at the firm.

Elsewhere, the Register reports that Virgin Media will lower its call charges for those using its broadband technical support services in the near future.
