Virgin Media reports customer growth

Internet service provider Virgin Media has announced significant gains in the number of people using its broadband, phone and TV packages.
The company reported that 24,400 new customers signed up to its services online in the final quarter of 2007, which is the best results it has seen since it took over Telewest’s broadband, TV and phone services.
It nearly doubled the number of customers it attracted on the web in the final four months of the year, with 13,000 customers joining online in the third quarter.
There were over 111,000 new users of its broadband services in the period, with fewer people leaving the supplier for another internet provider than in previous months.
Spokesperson Neil Berkett said that the results demonstrated the success of the company’s commercial aim, which was to "drive broadband growth and deliver the next generation of personalised on-demand content".
Virgin Media has also recently announced its intentions to expand it customer base further by developing the company’s online presence in order to appeal to a wider audience.
