Survey: changing ISPs still subject to delays

Broadband users looking to change provider are still being subjected to lengthy and inconvenient delays, it has been claimed.
According to figures from price comparison website moneysupermarket.com, customers changing provider are experiencing waits of around two weeks.
The worst performing provider was Talk Talk, which was found to be subjecting its customers to delays of around five weeks before they were fully connected, while 13 per cent of its subscribers were forced to wait between seven and ten weeks.
However, signs that the situation is improving were provided by Virgin and Orange, both of whom cut their average waiting time by around seven days.
Jason Lloyd, head of broadband at moneysupermarket.com, said: "It is great to see that in most cases providers are working hard to connect their customers in an acceptable time frame.
"However, there is still a room for improvement, especially amongst those providers that take over three weeks to connect people."
