BT primes faster ethernet service

The UK’s biggest ISP, BT, has moved a step closer to providing super-high speed networks, with the launch of a new product which could potentially provide speeds of 100Mbps.
Thinkbroadband reports that the Ethernet-style service, is entitled Street Access and is currently intended only for business.
ISPreview also speculates that the newly-installed technology could provide "the backbone to a fast urban wireless network" for all.
Street Access is set to be launched next week, BT says.
"Street Access will be ideal for customers who wish to deploy, for example, wireless networks in urban areas to offer the types of value-add services more commonly available at home or in the office," the telecoms company said in a statement.
"Street Access could also be used for many other applications that are based on Ethernet technology."
BT recently announced that it had hit four million subscribers in the UK - easily beating out its closest rival, Virgin.
