Wi-Fi usage ‘most common in London’

London residents have been found to lead the world in terms of users of Wi-Fi technology.
Around one-tenth of Wi-Fi use in the UK is concentrated in the capital - which translates to around one per cent of total global use, research compiled by technology firm iPass suggests.
This dwarves the joint second place cities of New York, Chicago and San Francisco on just 0.3 per cent.
The iPass study also showed that overall worldwide Wi-Fi use has grown by two thirds in the past year alone.
Commenting on the research as a whole, vice president of strategy and marketing for iPass Joel Wachtler said: "The results indicate that business demand for Wi-Fi hotspots has grown from a novelty to a mainstream need."
As expected, it was the traditional financial hubs of the City and Canary Wharf where Wi-Fi hotspots were found in the highest concentration, Telappliant reports.
