A new survey has revealed that the internet has become so popular now that more people are choosing to socialise online rather than in person. This new research has shed more light on the continued rise of social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and MSN Messenger by claiming that 780,000 individuals in the UK spend 24 days a year in total on social networking sites.

UK broadband costs more and is slower than many other countries

The UK has been placed in the bottom third of a chart showing the world’s most developed countries in terms of broadband costs and speeds. The report by OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) shows Sweden, Denmark and Switzerland as the top three countries respectively.

BT on top again as Epitiro names the top 5 performing ISPs

BT has once again been placed at the top of Epitiro’s Consumer ADSL Internet Performance Indicator Report for an astonishing fifth time in a row. The report examines a number of different aspects from a consumer ISP’s service including connection reliability, connection speed, download speed and ping rate (measures response rates to information requests). A fast ping time is generally desirable for online gamers.
