TV through broadband is on the up

The number of people receiving a broadband television service has increased by over 40% for the first quarter of 2007 according to recent research by Ofcom.
The research suggests that roughly 19,000 households opted to view their TV through a broadband connection, a rise of 44.2% from the previous quarter.
Ofcom say that this now makes the number of UK consumers receiving TV services through broadband stand at 62,000.
Ed Richards, Ofcom’s chief executive said “It’s great news that we are continuing to see the market grow strongly as we approach the start of digital switchover.”
The digital switchover is to begin in some areas in October, with a region by region switchover continuing through 2008.
However it has also recently reported that BBC, ITV and Channel 4 will be joining teams to potentially launch a single platform to deliver TV to broadband facilities.
