The number of broadband lines across the world has increased by an astonishing 30% from the past year to 300 million broadband lines globally.

The statistics found by Quantum media state that broadband lines increased by 69 million from March this year, with the most progression in Asia and Europe, whereas in America the growth rate has been far slower in comparison.

In contrast the fastest growing broadband markets were found to be in the Middle-East and in Africa, where connected households rose by a staggering 34.5 per cent since only march this year.

DSL seems to be expanding the most as connections via DSL increased by 27.5 per cent, whilst cable modem connections rose by 23.4 per cent within the same period.
‘DSL, with trend growth of 27.5 per cent passing 195 million by March 31st 2007, is acting as the engine of broadband growth,’ said Quantum Web in its report.

Earlier this month Point Topic stated that there were 298 million broadband users across the world in March, however the firm stated that it is more than likely according to these figures that the number has now surpassed the 300 million mark.
