Go Nuts For Free
18th May 2007
A new Spanish company aims to make broadband more accessible to everyone, particularly those on the move. Gonutsforfree.com is an internet service provider which offers free internet access, solutions and support. There is no membership fee, nor purchase required. So what’s the catch?
The internet connection is not broadband; therefore you are getting dial-up. You can get 1 Mb/s broadband with 24/7 call service but that comes with a charge of €36.50, plus the charge of a router which varies from €80 to €214 dependent on your wants and needs.
With the dial-up service, all that is required to get up and running is a programme downloaded from the gonutsforfree website The service is especially useful for those away from home who do not need fast speed internet access (for instance checking emails).
The cost of the connection is the same as a local phone call, and is added onto the users telephone bill and the cost to establish a connection each time is €0,09. The hourly rate is approximately €1.44 for 1 hour of Internet connection use. There is a reduced rate for non-peak times also (between 8pm and 8am) of approximate €0.66 for 1 hour of Internet connection use.
Currently the service is only available in the UK, Spain, Italy, USA and Canada, however this may yet be expanded.
