Pipex has been quick to respond to media speculation over the continuing rumour that the ISP is to be taken over.

Pipex have stated that they have appointed an asset management company and the investment bank UBS to show Pipex the options they have in the future. However Pipex have confirmed that although this consultation is taking place it does not necessarily indicate that Pipex will be sold.

A statement issued yesterday said ‘Pipex confirms that it has appointed UBS to investigate a number of strategic options, which could include a sale of the Company… this process is at a very early stage and there can be no certainty that a transaction will result…’

This news is bound to alert a number of companies including Sky, BT and Carphone Warehouse all eyeing up the possible prey. This news comes shortly after Pipex bought out Freedom 2 Surf for £10 million in October 2005 and it seems the little fish are being eaten up by the larger fish

I feel the sooner that Pipex is sold the better it will be for the customer, judging from my experience. I have had a lot of problems with Pipex and their response has been one of utter contempt. I have now decided to move to another provider at the end of March (beginning of April) and they(Pipex) are refusing to supply me with my MAC Code so that I can ensure a smooth transition to another supplier. Despite their responsibilities as a Provider they consistently refuse to supply my MAC. I am now trying to institute a complaint but they are not co operating regarding this. My experience clearly shows that i would not recommend them & Lets hope they are finally taken over by another Provider.
