Wireless broadband problems?
Fixing problems with wireless internet
There are a number of things that can affect a Wi-Fi signal, with brick walls, concrete, metal and mirrors being the main culprits. A good thing to do is to make that your wireless router is positioned high i.e. on top of your desk rather than under it to maximise your chances of a getting a strong signal.

Ensure that there are not too many solid objects in the way of the signal and check that your wireless adapter is compatible with your router. It is normally preferable to get them from the same manufacturer to ensure they offer the same speed, coverage and advanced features.
Wi-Fi signal problems
Make sure your router is not positioned close to nearby wireless devices or electrical equipment as this too can affect your signal. However, you can try changing the channel your router transmits to rectify any problems.
To do this you need to access your router’s settings through its web configuration interface. Look under ‘Wi-Fi’, then simply select a new channel and apply it. This change will be made instantly with no need to disconnect or reboot.
Make sure you are connected to the right network
If you use a PC, Windows automatically searches for and connects to the strongest wireless broadband connection it can find. Be careful as this may not be yours (it could be your neighbours), but you can turn this feature off if this is causing problems.
Simply go to Start, then Run, type ‘services.msc’ into the box and click OK. Scroll to the bottom of the page and double-click on Wireless Zero Configuration. Click Stop and then choose manual as the Start-up option.
