When moving house ask yourself:
- Are you in contract with your current ISP (internet service provider)?
- Are you happy with your current package and broadband provider?
- Does your current provider operate in the area you are moving to?
- If your current ISP doesn't have coverage in the area you're moving to which providers do have coverage?
Postcode checker
Enter your postcode into our postcode checker, to see which packages are available in your area or to see if your current (ISP) operates in the area you are moving. Most ISPs will allow you to move your broadband connection to another property, as long as they have coverage in that area, a small charge may be payable.
Transfer your broadband to your new property if:
- Your current ISP has coverage in your area, and
- You are happy with your broadband connection, or
- You are still within contract and don't want to pay cancellation costs
In order to transfer your broadband you will need to call up your current provider and speak to them about orchestrating the switch. The customer services number for your ISP can be found on our MAC codes & switching broadband page.
Change to a new broadband provider if:
- You are unhappy with their service, or
- Out of contract and looking for a better deal, or
- Your current ISP does not operate in the area you're moving to
In order to change provider and package you will need to set a cancellation date of when you want your current package to end and look at what new packages are on offer in the area you're moving to by entering your postcode into our postcode checker.
What to do next: call your current provider and
- Find out when your contract expires
- Find out what cancellation fees apply and then either
- Transfer your connection to your new address, or
- Cancel your account
The telephone numbers of all providers can be found out by reading our MAC codes & switching broadband page. Time is of the essence when it comes to setting up your broadband connection in your new property and planning ahead will minimise inconvenient waiting times.
